I have had the privilege of working in the van racking and upfitting industry since 2011. Over the years I have installed and later sold a large number of tool panels for van walls, but for some reason this product has always been a bit outside my comfort zone. Tool panels tended to end up in the back corner of the warehouse and on the last page of the accessories category in the online store. This was mostly because there was never a truly clear or satisfying installation method.
This autumn my colleague Tommi and I began to wonder whether we could create a solid, clean and easy-to-install tool panel for vans with just a few smart updates. We put our heads together, sketched ideas, made test models and started discussions with some of our key reseller partners. Eventually we ordered the first production batch of three different sizes from our Finnish sheet-metal manufacturing partner.
The result is simple, practical and in our opinion far sturdier and much easier to install than the perforated panels we used before.
Today the new tool panel has a well-deserved place in our online store and proudly sits on the first shelf in our warehouse.
And the actual product innovation. It is surprisingly simple. A dedicated row of screw holes at the top and bottom makes installation quick and precise. This allows you to apply a thin line of adhesive between the panel and the van wall. The adhesive is important because it prevents vibration from loosening the screws over time while also giving the panel a firm and quiet mounting surface.
